BEL Probationary Engineer Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates applying for BEL Probationary Engineer posts must meet the educational qualification and age requirements specified in the official notification.

Educational Qualification

• Electronics: B.E / B.Tech / B.Sc (4 Years) Engineering in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Communication or Telecommunication.
• Mechanical: B.E / B.Tech / B.Sc (4 Years) Engineering in Mechanical.
• General, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates must have First Class in the qualifying degree.
• SC, ST and PwBD candidates are eligible with Pass Class.
• Eligible candidates with AMIE / AMIETE / GIETE qualifications in the specified disciplines may also apply.

Other equivalent disciplines and dual specialisations will not be considered. Candidates should carefully verify their qualification against the official notification.

BEL Probationary Engineer Age Limit 2026

The maximum age limit for General and EWS candidates is 25 years as on 1 October 2026. Age relaxation is applicable according to government guidelines.

BEL Probationary Engineer Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be appointed in E-II Grade with a basic pay scale of Rs. 40,000 – 3% – Rs. 1,40,000. The approximate annual CTC is Rs. 13 lakh. Employees will also be eligible for allowances and benefits, including Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Conveyance Allowance, Performance Related Pay and Medical Reimbursement, as admissible under company rules.

BEL Probationary Engineer Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by an interview. Candidates shortlisted through the CBT will be called for an interview in a 1:5 ratio, discipline-wise and category-wise.

• Computer-Based Test: 85% weightage.
• Interview: 15% weightage.
• Minimum Qualifying Marks: 35% for General/OBC/EWS and 30% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates in each stage separately.

BEL Probationary Engineer Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2026

The BEL Probationary Engineer Computer-Based Test will contain 125 objective-type questions, including 100 technical questions from the relevant engineering discipline and 25 General Aptitude and Reasoning questions. Candidates will have 120 minutes to complete the examination.
