The ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) is located in New Delhi – 110012. This recruitment is conducted by its Division of Genetics, and the notice is issued by the Administrative Officer of the Division. The SRF will work in the ICAR-funded project “National Mission on High Yielding Seeds- Mustard (12-289C)”.

Posts and Eligibility

One Senior Research Fellow (SRF) post is to be filled in the Division of Genetics. The position is unreserved, and only candidates having the essential qualification will be entertained for the interview.

Essential qualification:

• Master’s degree in Genetics/Plant Breeding/Genetics and Plant Breeding/Biotechnology with 4/5 years bachelor’s degree.
• Those with 3 years bachelor’s degree must have UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET qualification or equivalent or a Ph.D. in any of the above disciplines, as prescribed under ICAR guidelines.

Desirable:

• Experience in Brassica Breeding, hybrid breeding, molecular breeding, biotechnology.
• Proficiency in computer applications.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The maximum age for the SRF post is 35 years. The notice does not print a separate cut-off date for age; the application form asks for the candidate’s age as on the date of interview.

Pay

The emoluments are as applicable under ICAR norms, and HRA is paid in addition to the fixed amount. The Hindi version describes the remuneration as fixed per month.

Terms of Appointment

• The post is purely temporary and will be filled on a contractual basis initially up to 31 March 2027.
• It is extendable till the termination of the project, subject to satisfactory performance.
• The candidate shall not claim regular appointment at the Institute, as the post is co-terminus with the project.

What to Bring

Candidates must compulsorily bring the following to the walk-in interview:

• The filled-in and signed application form, as per the format annexed to the notice.
• An attested copy of a recent passport size photograph pasted onto the application form.
• The signed declaration in the annexed format (stating that no near or distant relative is an employee of ICAR/IARI).
• All original certificates from matriculation onwards.
• Date of birth certificate.
• NET/equivalent certificate.
• Degree certificate, either original or provisional.
• One set of self-attested photocopies of all the required certificates from matriculation onwards.
• Proof of experience and publications.
• No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the present employer, wherever applicable.

The application form asks for personal details, category (SC/ST/OBC/General, with proof), educational qualifications from 10th onwards with attested copies, experience of one year and above only with proof, published research papers with proof, the NOC and a self-declaration about the truthfulness of the application.

What Happens on the Day

The interview of eligible candidates will be held on 26 November 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Division of Genetics, as per the schedule in the notice. Original documents and the self-attested photocopies will be verified at the time of interview, and the application with the declaration is submitted then. Only candidates having the essential qualification will be interviewed.

Important Instructions

• A candidate who has a near or distant relative employed in ICAR/IARI must declare the relative’s name, designation, nature of duties and relationship in writing, to reach the Head, Division of Genetics, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi by 25 November 2026.
• If such a declaration is furnished only on the date of the interview and the relative is found to be an ICAR/IARI employee, the candidate will not be allowed for interview.
• All other candidates must furnish the signed declaration in the annexed format on the date of interview.
• If a candidate is found to have submitted false claims at a later stage, the candidature will be summarily rejected.
• Concealing of facts or canvassing in any form shall lead to disqualification or termination.
• No TA/DA or any other expenses will be paid for attending the interview.
• Any dispute will be resolved in the jurisdiction of the New Delhi court only.
