Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna (IGIMS) is recruiting candidates for 6 Senior Resident vacancies through a walk-in interview scheduled for 4 November 2026, reporting at 8:30 AM at the Paediatrics Seminar room, 5th floor, Medical College Building, I.G.I.M.S., Patna-14 under advertisement number 03/PAEDI/2026. Applicants must possess an MD/DNB Paediatrics qualification and meet the age limit of 45 (Forty-Five) Years as on 3 November 2026. The appointment is on a contract basis for a period of 89 days on ad-hoc terms, with pay as per IGIMS rules along with admissible allowances. Candidates must bring their filled application form with a Demand Draft and supportive documents by hand to the interview.

IGIMS Senior Resident Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Eligible Indian citizens are invited to participate. Reservation benefits are applicable strictly to Bihar state domicile candidates, and applicants from outside the state will be considered under the unreserved category.

The selected candidates receive emoluments as per the Senior Residency programme under 89 days ad-hoc terms. In addition to Pay, NPA and other allowances are admissible as per IGIMS rules.

IGIMS Senior Resident Application Fee

The application fee must be paid in the form of a Demand Draft payable to The Director, IGIMS, Patna. The fee is non-refundable. Payment by cash, cheque, money orders, postal orders, banker’s cheques, or postal stamps is not accepted.

What to Bring

• Recent passport size photograph of the candidate (clear face visible, color against a light-colored background, preferably white; caps, hats, and dark glasses are not acceptable).
• Demand draft in original (if applicable).
• Aadhar Card.
• Date of Birth/HSSC pass certificate mentioning date of birth.
• MBBS Degree Certificates.
• Internship Completion Certificates.
• MD/DNB Degree/Provisional Degree Certificates.
• UG & PG NMC/State Registration Certificates.
• Category/PwBD Certificate (if seat is claimed in a reserved category; EWS certificate issued between 01/04/2026 and the interview date, BC/EBC certificate valid and not older than 1 year mentioning non-creamy layer Form-X).
• Experience Certificate (if any).
• NOC from present employer (applicable for those working in Govt./Pvt. organization).
• Any other relevant documents (e.g., research work, publication certificates).
• One set of self-attested copies along with all original certificates/documents.

What Happens on the Day

Candidates must report at the venue by 08:30 AM on 04/11/2026. Document verification will be conducted on the day of the interview. No reporting of candidates will be accepted after 10:00 AM. The interview commences at 9:30 AM on the same day. Selection is based on bio-data and the interview according to the institute’s marking scheme.

IGIMS Senior Resident Important Instructions

• The post is non-practicing. Private practice of any kind, direct or indirect, including laboratories, is strictly prohibited.
• Candidates employed in Government, Semi-Government, or other employers must submit a “No Objection Certificate” at the time of interview, or state in writing that they are not employed anywhere.
• Selected candidates must submit a legal bond to deposit an amount equivalent to one month’s emoluments for every year of the Senior Residency programme if they quit or resign mid-way before completing the programme.
• Reservation benefits apply to Bihar state domicile candidates only.
• No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview or joining the post.
• In case of unavailability of eligible female candidates, male candidates may be considered, and vice versa.
