The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) has invited applications from female candidates for admission to the four-year BSc (Nursing) Course 2026 at Colleges of Nursing under AFMS. Candidates who have qualified NEET (UG) 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), are eligible to apply. Registration for the AFMS BSc Nursing 2026 admission will be conducted online at the official Join Indian Army (JIA) website, www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.

According to the official Join Indian Army website, registration for admission to the BSc Nursing Course 2026 will commence on 20 Jul 2026 at 11:00 AM and close on 31 Jul 2026 at 11:00 PM. Candidates selected for the course will be trained as officers in the Military Nursing Service (MNS) and granted Permanent or Short Service Commission on successful completion of the course.

Colleges of Nursing and Seat Details

The notification lists six Colleges of Nursing (CoN) under AFMS along with their affiliated universities. AFMS BSc Nursing 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Gender and Marital Status

Only female candidates who are unmarried, divorced, legally separated, or widowed without encumbrances can apply.

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit

Candidates must be born between 01 Oct 2001 and 30 Sep 2009 (both days inclusive).

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent (12 years of schooling) in their first attempt, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology), and English, securing not less than 50% aggregate marks from a Statutory/Recognized Board, University, or Examining Body.

Additionally, candidates must have qualified NEET (UG) 2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Physical Standards

• Minimum height required: 152 cm for general candidates
• Minimum height for candidates from Hill and North Eastern States: 147 cm
• An allowance of 2 cm growth will be given to candidates below 18 years of age at the time of examination
• Weight-for-height standards are prescribed separately in Appendix AF of the applicable medical standards document

Category-Specific Requirements

• SC/ST Candidates: Must possess an SC/ST certificate issued by a competent authority not below the rank of 1st Class Magistrate/Tehsildar/Sub Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or her family resides
• NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders: Candidates who have qualified NCC ‘C’ certificate are required to upload the same during application

Application Fee

All candidates, except SC/ST, are required to pay ₹200 as application processing fee through the online payment gateway. SC/ST candidates are exempted from the fee but must upload documentary proof of their category.

On successful payment, a bank reference number (DU number) is generated along with a confirmation page. Candidates are advised to note this DU number for future reference.

AFMS BSc Nursing 2026 Selection Process

Selection is based on the combined merit of NEET (UG) 2026 score, Computer Based Test of General Intelligence and General English (ToGIGE), Psychological Assessment and Interview by the Selection Board, subject to medical fitness and seat availability at each college. The process involves the following stages:

1. Shortlisting

Shortlisting of candidates is done based on NEET (UG) 2026 scores. Reference numbers of shortlisted candidates are displayed on the JIA website, and admit cards can be downloaded from the same portal.

2. Test of General Intelligence and General English (ToGIGE)

3. Psychological Assessment and Interview

Shortlisted candidates undergo Psychological Assessment and Interview by a Selection Board at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt. Candidates may be asked questions on core subjects up to Std XII, General Knowledge, current affairs, and their interests and hobbies. Due weightage is given for achievements in sports and to dependents of officers, JCOs, or ORs who are serving, ex-servicemen, or killed in action.

4. Medical Examination

All candidates undergo a Special Medical Board (SMB) at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt, to assess medical fitness for training requirements and duties of the Military Nursing Service. Candidates declared unfit may appeal by depositing ₹40 through MRO and reporting to Army Hospital (R&R) for an Appeal Medical Board (AMB) within 24 hours of the SMB date. Candidates must remain present until the Medical Board process is complete; failure to do so results in being declared unfit in absentia, with no scope for later representation.

5. Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates must produce original documents listed in the admit card at the time of the screening process at BHDC. If original certificates are not available, an original receipt from the institution holding the documents, along with an undertaking, must be submitted.

Final Selection and Merit List

The final selection is based on combined merit of NEET (UG) 2026 score, ToGIGE score, and Psychological Assessment/Interview score, subject to medical fitness. College allocation is done as per merit-cum-choice, subject to seat availability at each college. The list of selected candidates is hrs/4 PM) is required to pay bond money as per the agreement bond executed at the time of admission. The exact bond amount is not specified in the notification.

How to Apply for AFMS BSc Nursing 2026

1. Visit the official Join Indian Army website: www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. The registration portal becomes accessible after NEET (UG) 2026 results are declared.
2. Register online by providing name, mobile number, email ID, and other required details. The email ID will serve as the login username, and the candidate will set her own password.
3. Upload scanned copies of the required documents in the prescribed size and format.
4. Fill in the application form and use the EDIT menu to make any corrections before final submission. No corrections are possible after the form is submitted.
5. Pay the application processing fee of ₹200 through the online payment gateway (not applicable for SC/ST candidates, who must upload documentary proof instead).
6. Note the bank reference number (DU number) generated after successful payment.
7. Take a printout of the filled application form and payment confirmation page for personal reference.
8. On final submission, a provisional registration (Reference number) will be generated and sent to the registered email ID. Quote this reference number in all future communications.
9. Visit the JIA website regularly for updates regarding shortlisting, admit card, and screening schedule.

Important Instructions

• It is the individual responsibility of the candidate to ensure successful payment of the application fee; receipt of a DU number does not by itself confirm successful payment.
• Candidates must ensure correctness of information filled in the application; willful concealment or misrepresentation of facts will lead to disqualification at any stage of the selection process.
• Candidates must maintain a functional phone number and email ID until the selection process is completed. Requests for change of registered email or phone number will not be entertained.
• No correspondence will be entertained regarding receipt of applications, application status, or reasons for rejection. Hard copies of the application will not be accepted.
• Common reasons for rejection of online applications include incomplete application, submission of more than one application, and non-payment of the application processing fee. No refund is given if the fee is paid more than once.
• Request for change of date for the screening process will not be entertained except under extreme circumstances.
• All conditions in the notification are subject to modification if deemed necessary by the competent authority.
