Karnataka State Police Department has released two recruitment notifications, both dated 10 July 2026, inviting online applications for a combined 2,314 Police Constable posts. This includes Special Reserve Police Constable (KSRP) posts across the state, and Kalyana Karnataka local-cadre posts for Special Reserve Police Constable (KSRP), Police Constable (Karnataka State Industrial Security Force – KSISF), and Special Reserve Police Constable (Indian Reserve Battalion – IRB). Candidates who have passed 2nd PUC or an equivalent qualification can apply online from 13 July 2026 to 10 August 2026. Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of ₹37,500-₹76,100 per month.

KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility

• Candidates must be Indian citizens.
• For Kalyana Karnataka local cadre posts (KSRP, KSISF, IRB), candidates must possess a valid local candidature certificate as per the Karnataka Public Employment (Reservation for Local Candidates in Hyderabad-Karnataka Region) Rules, 2013, issued under Article 371(J) of the Constitution.
• A woman candidate who has more than one living spouse, or a male candidate married to a woman who already has a living husband, is not eligible unless prior permission has been obtained from the Government.
• Candidates must be mentally and physically fit and free from any defect that could interfere with the efficient performance of duties.

KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 2nd PUC or possess an equivalent qualification. As per Government Order No. 81 dated 27.02.2018, the following qualifications are treated as equivalent to 2nd PUC:

• Class 12 examination conducted by the CBSE or ICSE boards.
• Class 12 examination conducted by the education boards of other state governments.
• Higher secondary education courses/certificates conducted through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
• A one-year vocational/ITI course after SSLC combined with a pass in one PUC subject through NIOS, provided the candidate has passed at least one language subject and one technical/vocational subject (as detailed in the official notification).

As per Government Order dated 06.08.2021, private study courses are recognised for equivalence only if they were approved by the concerned university at the time of admission, and such equivalence is verified against University Grants Commission (UGC) records.

Note: The prescribed qualification must have been obtained on or before the last date fixed for submission of applications. Qualifications obtained after this date will not be considered. All candidates must additionally hold a Kannada language qualification at least up to the 12th standard/PUC level, unless exempted under the Kannada-medium study or Kannada-language-exam provisions described in the official notification.

KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Age Limit

Age is calculated as on the last date fixed for receipt of applications (10 August 2026). The above age limits already include a 5-year relaxation granted as per Government Order No. 262 dated 29.01.2026. Ex-servicemen candidates are entitled to a relaxation equal to their actual period of military service, plus 3 additional years, as per the rules described in the official notification.

KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Salary

Selected candidates will be placed in the following pay scale (Level as applicable):

₹37,500 – 900 – 39,300 – 1,000 – 43,300 – 1,125 – 47,800 – 1,250 – 52,800 – 1,375 – 58,300 – 1,500 – 64,300 – 1,650 – 74,200 – 1,900 – 76,100

National Pension System (NPS) benefits apply as per Government Order No. FD (SPL) 04 PET 2005, dated 31.03.2006.

KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Application Fee

Fee must be paid online only; fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. For the Kalyana Karnataka notification, candidates may submit a single combined application for KSRP, KSISF, and IRB posts since all three share one written exam paper. The applicable fee above is charged for the first post selected; an additional ₹100 is charged for each extra post/category selected within the same application.

KEA KSRP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

1. Written Examination: Offline OMR-based exam on General Studies and Mental Ability – 100 questions, 100 marks, duration 1 hour 30 minutes (90 minutes).
2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio per category/post, based on written exam marks, undergo height, chest, and weight measurement.
3. Physical Endurance Test (PET): Qualifying in nature; no marks are awarded for PET, but candidates must clear the prescribed run, jump, and shot-put standards.
4. Medical Examination: Conducted by a Medical Board on vision, hearing, and other physical fitness parameters.
5. Final Merit List: Prepared based on written exam marks of candidates who qualify PST, PET, and the medical test.

Negative Marking

0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. If a candidate marks more than one answer for a question, or erases/overwrites an answer such that it becomes legible only after being read within 5 minutes of the OMR sheet being read by the scanner, it is treated as a wrong answer and 0.25 marks are deducted; if the erasure is illegible, no deduction is made for that question.

Physical Standard Test (PST) Requirements

Notified forest-dwelling/nomadic communities (as per the official notification) include Siddi, Jenu Kuruba, Kadu Kuruba, Yerava, Soliga, Kudiya, Gowdlu, Hasalaru, Malekudiya, and Koraga communities residing in the forest areas of Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada (Mangaluru, Udupi), Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, and Mysuru districts.

Physical Endurance Test (PET) Standards

PET is qualifying only; no marks are awarded for performance in PET.

Medical Test Standards

• Vision: Distant vision – better eye 6/9, worse eye 6/9 or 6/12; Near vision – better eye 0/6, worse eye 0/8.
• Hearing: Rinne’s Test, Weber’s Test, and Vertigo tests; failing any of these tests results in disqualification.
• Varicose veins and speech impediment are disqualifying conditions.
• Chest X-ray and any other tests recommended by the Medical Board will be conducted.
• Disqualifying musculoskeletal deformities: Knock knees, flat foot, bow legs, Cubitus Valgus, and Cubitus Varus.

• Proof of date of birth (SSLC certificate or transfer certificate showing date of birth)
• Caste/category certificate – for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A, or 3B candidates claiming reservation
• Discharge certificate and pension book/pension payment order – for Ex-servicemen candidates
• Rural candidature certificate (Format-1 or Format-2, as applicable) – for candidates claiming rural reservation
• Kannada medium study certificate – for candidates claiming Kannada-medium exemption
• Income and caste certificate – for women candidates of certain reserved categories, wherever applicable

1. Visit the official Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) portal: https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/
2. Locate and click the relevant recruitment link for KSRP / KSISF / IRB Constable Recruitment 2026-27.
3. Register or log in, and fill in the online application form accurately with personal, educational, and category details.
4. Upload your scanned photograph (JPEG, 50 KB-200 KB) and signature (JPEG, 50 KB-70 KB) as per the specified format.
5. Pay the applicable application fee online through the payment gateway.
6. Review all entered details carefully, since no corrections or changes are allowed after submission.
7. Download and keep a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
8. Submit the application on or before 10 August 2026, and complete fee payment on or before 11 August 2026.

Important Instructions

• Applications can be submitted online only; offline/manual applications are not accepted.
• No corrections or changes are allowed in the application after final submission, in any manner or at any stage.
• Only one application per post/bracket is permitted; multiple applications for the same category may result in disqualification.
• For the Kalyana Karnataka notification, one combined application covering KSRP, KSISF, and IRB is permitted, with additional fee for extra post selections as detailed above.
• Candidates must appear for the written exam and all subsequent stages (PST, PET, medical test) strictly as per the schedule communicated by the recruiting authority; no request for change of date will be entertained.
• Candidates must bring a valid original photo ID (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence, Voter ID, or similar government-issued ID) to the exam centre and to PST/PET.
• Submission of forged documents, impersonation, or providing false information will lead to disqualification and may attract legal/criminal action.
