PGVCL Junior Assistant Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply (PwBD Category)

Only Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) candidates are eligible to apply. The suitable disabilities for this post are:

  • Low Vision (LV) – 40% to 70% disability
  • Hard of Hearing (HH) – 40% to 70% disability
  • One Arm (OA)
  • One Leg (OL)
  • Dwarfism (D)
  • Leprosy Cured (LC)
  • Acid Attack Victim (AAV)
  • Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
  • Spinal Injury (SI)
  • Spinal Deformity (SD)

As per rules, a minimum of 40% disability is required for consideration under the PwBD quota. Applications and appointments will be considered as per the company’s rules.

PGVCL Vidyut Sahayak Educational Qualification

  • B.A., B.Com, B.Sc., B.C.A., or B.B.A. through Regular, External, or Open/Distance Learning (ODL) mode from a university recognized by UGC/AICTE.
  • Candidates must have a minimum average of 55% marks in the last year / last two semesters of graduation.
  • Any programme/course through ODL and/or online mode must be from a university/institute accredited by NAAC with a minimum score of 3.01 on a 4-point scale, or NBA accreditation with at least 650 points on a scale of 1000.
  • The percentage of marks specified for eligibility is considered the exact requirement – no rounding off or upward adjustment is permitted.
  • Candidates with grades (instead of percentage) in their result must submit a certificate from their University/Institute specifying the equivalent percentage, along with decimals, at the time of document verification.

  • No other allowance or benefits are admissible during the fixed-remuneration tenure.

  • The candidate is initially appointed for 3 years as Vidyut Sahayak (Junior Assistant) and may thereafter be considered for regular appointment as Junior Assistant in the pay scale of Rs. 25,000–55,800, subject to satisfactory completion of the three-year term.

PGVCL Vidyut Sahayak Selection Process 2026

Selection is made through a two-tier written examination followed by document verification and a medical examination.

1st Tier Examination

  • Total marks: 100 (100 questions of 1 mark each).
  • Conducted in Online or Offline mode depending on the number of applications received, at centres across Gujarat.
  • Candidates scoring 45 marks or above qualify for the 2nd Tier Examination.
  • Question paper will be in both Gujarati and English; questions on the Gujarati and English subjects themselves will be in Gujarati and English only respectively.

Other Key Exam Rules

  • Negative marking: 1/4th mark is deducted for each wrong answer in both tiers.
  • If applications are received in large numbers, exams may be held in multiple batches, and scores will be adjusted using a Normalization Methodology (based on batch average and standard deviation) before declaring results.

The following self-attested documents must be produced as and when required by the company:

Candidates working in Government/Semi-Government/PSU organizations must produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of document verification, failing which their candidature will be rejected. Selected candidates already employed must submit a relieving letter from their previous employer at the time of joining, failing which the appointment order stands cancelled.

  3. Indicate your order of preference for the DISCOM companies (PGVCL, DGVCL, MGVCL, UGVCL) in ascending order – 1st choice as Choice No. 1, and so on. This preference is final and cannot be revised, added to, or altered later.

Important Instructions for PGVCL PwBD Recruitment 2026

  • The order of preference for companies does not confer any right to appointment in a preferred company; allotment is based on rank in the merit order and available vacancies.
  • All original documents of selected candidates will be verified at the appropriate stage; if any criteria are not fulfilled, candidature will be cancelled immediately, and inclusion in the selection list will not be grounds for claiming employment.
  • The Management reserves the right to short-list, select, or reject any candidate, and to cancel the Selection List at any time at its sole discretion, without assigning reasons.
  • Selected candidates will be posted at any office under the jurisdiction of the GUVNL DISCOMs. Once posted to a company, transfer to another company is not allowed, except for one additional opportunity during the one-year validity of the result, which would be treated as a fresh appointment (with resignation from the current position).
  • Candidates must fulfil requisite physical fitness standards as per company rules; failing this, they will not be considered for appointment.
