ERD Punjab PTI Qualification

As per Appendix ‘B’ of the Punjab State Elementary Education (Physical Training Instructor) Service Rules, 2023 (as amended in 2025), candidates must have passed 10+2 along with at least a two-year diploma or certificate in Physical Education, referred to as Diploma in Physical Education or Certificate in Physical Education (D.P.Ed/C.P.Ed) or an equivalent course under any other nomenclature.

Candidates who are in the final year of their D.P.Ed/C.P.Ed diploma or certificate course are also eligible to apply, provided they successfully complete and pass the diploma/certificate before the final recruitment merit list date (the deadline for this is the final recruitment merit list date, not the last date of this recruitment process).

Additionally, as per Punjab Government notification G.S.R.72/Const./Art.309/Amd.(22)/2022 dated 28-10-2022, candidates must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or an equivalent examination in Punjabi. Candidates who have not studied Punjabi at the Matric level must clear a qualifying Punjabi language test with a minimum of 50% marks; failing this will disqualify the candidate from the final merit list irrespective of their score in the main written test.

ERD Punjab PTI Physical Eligibility Test (PET) Criteria

The Physical Eligibility Test is qualifying in nature and comprises five components. A candidate must successfully clear at least three of the five components to qualify.

Differently-abled candidates are exempted from the PET as per the notification. The PET will be conducted by the recruiting agency or the Education Recruitment Directorate, and its applicability and conditions for persons with disability will follow the instructions of the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Government of Punjab.

Selected candidates will be engaged on a fixed pay scale as per the Punjab State Elementary Education (Physical Training Instructor) Service Rules, 2023, and its First Amendment Rules, 2025.

ERD Punjab PTI Application Fee

The application fee for ERD Punjab PTI Recruitment 2026 differs by category and must be paid online during the application process.

Fee relaxation for ex-servicemen is applicable only if the candidate’s post-retirement employment with the Central Government or its undertakings has been completed, or the candidate was not discharged from service on disciplinary grounds. Ex-servicemen and their dependents must submit the applicable relaxation certificate, including a Lineal Descendent Certificate (LDC) for dependents, at the time of document verification. No fee refund will be given, even in case of a wrong claim of category-based fee concession, and candidates found to have made an incorrect claim will be blacklisted from all recruitments conducted by the Director, Education Recruitment Directorate, Punjab for three years.

ERD Punjab PTI Selection Process

Selection for the PTI (Primary Cadre) posts will be based on a combined merit prepared from a written test and sports achievement weightage, as per the following distribution out of a total of 100 marks.

The written test will be a single objective multiple-choice paper of 70 marks conducted at the state level. Candidates must also clear the Physical Eligibility Test (PET), which is qualifying in nature and does not carry marks in the merit calculation.

Sports achievement weightage does not apply to candidates recruited under the sports quota; for these candidates, the Punjab Sportsmen Recruitment Rules, 1988, remain applicable. In case of multiple gradation certificates, a candidate can claim weightage for only one gradation certificate issued as per the revised Gradation Policy, 2023, of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Punjab.

As per Punjab Government notification dated 28-10-2022, candidates must also clear a qualifying Punjabi language paper with a minimum of 50% marks at the Matriculation standard, in addition to the competitive written test. If two or more candidates score the same marks in the written test, the older candidate will be given preference in merit; if age is also the same, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in their professional/educational qualification will be preferred.

Candidates should keep the following documents ready for the online application and subsequent document verification:

• 10+2 (Matriculation/equivalent) certificate showing Punjabi as a subject, or Punjabi qualifying test certificate
• D.P.Ed/C.P.Ed diploma or certificate in Physical Education
• Category certificate (SC/BC/EWS), issued by the competent authority, where applicable
• Ex-serviceman certificate or Lineal Descendent Certificate (LDC), where applicable
• Disability certificate (for Physically Handicapped category), issued within the validity period and by an authorized medical board, showing a minimum disability of 40%
• Sports gradation certificate, where a candidate is claiming sports achievement weightage or applying under the sports quota (recognized only by Sports Punjab)
• Recent passport-size photograph (2.5 x 3.5 inches, 80% of face visible including ears) and postcard-size photograph (4×6 inches, 80% of face visible, plain background, no cap or goggles)
• Scanned signature
• Valid mobile number, email ID, and bank account details (account number, IFSC, bank name)

Eligible candidates can apply online for ERD Punjab PTI Recruitment 2026 by following the steps below.

3. Log in to your account using the registration number and password generated after registration.
4. Click on the “Application Fee” link and pay the applicable fee online.

Candidates can apply for only one category at a time. • No fee refund or concession will be given to any candidate other than ex-servicemen, under any circumstances.
