The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the Revised First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) for the Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Examination, 2025 vide Notice No. E/16/2025-C-2 SECTION, dated 31.07.2026. The revision follows a review triggered by candidate representations about the evaluation of the Stenography Skill Test. The Commission has now recommended 232 candidates for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 1483 candidates for Stenographer Grade ‘D’, and has also announced dates for a Sliding Mechanism process to fill remaining vacancies.

SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ 2025 Revised FRTA – Overview

Why Was the FRTA Revised?

SSC had first declared the FRTA for this exam on 18.06.2026, recommending 228 candidates for Grade ‘C’ and 1483 candidates for Grade ‘D’. However, via a notice dated 19.06.2026, the Commission withheld that FRTA after receiving representations from candidates claiming inaccurate evaluation of the Stenographer Skill Test for 2025. After a comprehensive review, the Commission issued the revised FRTA in line with its Notice dated 03.03.2026 on the introduction of a “Sliding Mechanism” for qualifying candidates.

Important Dates

Candidates should log in through the designated module on the official SSC website to choose their sliding-process venue, date, and slot. Any candidate who does not attend the sliding process in person will be treated as absent and will not be considered for the final result.

SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ Vacancy Details

*The UR figure of 119 includes 7 EWS, 3 SC, and 17 OBC candidates who qualified at UR standard. Under horizontal categories: the 1 HH candidate recommended is from OBC; of the 2 VH candidates recommended, 1 is SC and 1 is UR.

SSC Stenographer Grade ‘D’ Vacancy Details

#1 OBC candidate under horizontal categories has qualified against an unreserved (UR) vacancy. *The UR figure of 711 (and the total of 1483) includes 72 EWS, 9 SC, 2 ST, and 234 OBC candidates who qualified at UR standard.

Break-up of horizontal-category recommendations for Grade ‘D’:

• ESM (6): 3 OBC and 3 UR candidates
• OH (15): 2 SC, 6 OBC, and 7 UR candidates
• HH (11): 9 OBC and 2 UR candidates
• VH (12): 2 SC, 1 EWS, 8 OBC, and 1 UR candidate
• PwBD Others (2): 1 OBC candidate and 1 UR candidate

Cut-Off Marks and Date of Birth of Last Selected Candidates

The official notice publishes a detailed, post-code-wise and category-wise table showing the total marks, Part III (English Language & Comprehension) marks, Part II (General Awareness) marks, and date of birth of the last shortlisted candidate for every post code and category covering post codes C1 to C10 for Grade ‘C’ and D11 to D53 for Grade ‘D’. Because this table runs to dozens of rows per grade, it has not been reproduced in full here. Candidates should refer to the official PDF notice on the SSC website for the exact cut-off marks and DOB applicable to their specific post code and category.

Resolution of Tie Cases

Where more than one candidate secured equal aggregate marks in the Computer Based Examination (CBE), SSC resolved the tie by applying the following methods in order until it was resolved:

1. Marks in Part-III (English Language & Comprehension)
2. Marks in Part-II (General Awareness)
3. Date of birth, with the older candidate placed higher
4. Alphabetical order of candidates’ names

Cancelled and Debarred Candidates

The candidature of 2 candidates has been cancelled by the Commission. Additionally, 7 candidates have been debarred by the concerned Regional Offices. Roll numbers are listed in the official notice; the specific grounds for cancellation or debarment for each individual are not available in this notice.

What Is the Sliding Mechanism?

Under Para 17.3 of the Notice of Examination, and vide Notice dated 03.03.2026, SSC introduced a “Sliding Mechanism” to:

• Ensure maximum filling of vacancies in a given examination cycle
• Provide fair and merit-based opportunities to candidates
• Minimize unfilled vacancies arising from non-joining/absenteeism of allocated candidates

The mechanism establishes a single round of reallocation for vacancies that remain unutilized. Candidates recommended in this FRTA are advised to also refer to the Notice dated 08.04.2026 on the Sliding Mechanism and other related notices and 5th August 2026 to choose your venue, date, and slot for the sliding process.

Important Instructions

• Allocation of posts and departments has been made strictly on merit-cum-order of preference submitted online by candidates.
• Marks of both selected and non-selected candidates will be uploaded on the SSC website only after the final result of the examination is declared.
• Rows corresponding to posts/categories with “Nil” vacancies have not been included in the official notice’s detailed table.
• Application fee, exam pattern, and pay scale/salary details are not available in this notice.
