WB Police Driver Vacancy 2026

Each unit has notified its own vacancies for the post of Driver (Contractual). Purulia has the most posts (12), followed by Hooghly Rural and Krishnanagar (10 each).

WB Police Driver Eligibility Criteria 2026

Most notices carry the same five conditions. Candidates should still read their own unit notice, because a few conditions differ.

WB Police Driver Qualification and Age Limit: Unit-Specific Differences

• Kalimpong: The applicant must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of West Bengal (residents of the Kalimpong district area will be preferred). Minimum qualification is Class VIII passed from a recognised school. The notice asks for a valid Four-Wheeler Driving License and at least 03 years of driving experience in any Government organisation, Quasi Government organisation or registered private limited company, etc. It does not mention Bengali.
• Krishnanagar: The applicant must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of West Bengal (residents of the Krishnanagar Police District area will be preferred). Class VIII passed from a recognised school and Bengali reading and writing are required, along with an LMV or HMV licence of at least 03 years. The 03 years of experience must be in any Government organisation, Quasi Government organisation or registered private limited company, etc.
• Murshidabad: Age (21 to 40 years) and the 03-year licence period are counted as on the date of publication of the notice. The 03 years of experience must be as a driver, supported by documentary proof.
• Other units: Age and licence period are counted as on the date of advertisement.

Reservation-related age relaxation is not specified in the provided notices.

WB Police Driver Salary 2026

The consolidated professional fee is Rs. 16,000 per month (Rupees Sixteen Thousand only). The Kalimpong and Krishnanagar notices add that the amount is subject to applicable statutory deductions. The engagement is contractual, and the contract is for 01 (one) year. Kalimpong and Krishnanagar state that renewal is subject to satisfactory performance. All notices state that no claim for regularisation will be entertained.

WB Police Driver Application Fee

The Krishnanagar notice states that no application fee will be charged. The Murshidabad notice states that no application fee shall be charged at any stage. The other notices do not mention any application fee.

WB Police Driver Selection Process 2026

Selection is through a Driving Test and Interview of 40 marks in total. Shortlisted candidates with valid applications are called for both stages, and a merit list is prepared on the marks obtained.

• Provisionally selected candidates must undergo a Medical Fitness Test as directed by the competent authority.
• The selected candidate must submit a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) at the time of joining. Krishnanagar asks for the PCC from the PCC portal of WB Police (https://pcc.wb.gov.in).
• Kalimpong: if the number of applicants is much higher, the authority may shortlist on the basis of educational qualification and driving experience. The merit list will be

  The notices do not provide an online application link. Candidates must submit the prescribed application form (Annexure-I) offline in the drop box of the concerned unit. Kalimpong and Krishnanagar state that the form must be submitted personally and not by post.

  1. Download the application form from wbpolice.gov.in or the website of the concerned unit (Krishnanagar also distributes forms from its Motor Transport Section at Krishnanagar Police Line).
  2. Fill in the form in capital letters and mention your mobile number.
  3. Paste a recent passport-size photograph (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm), self-attested where the form asks for it.
  4. Attach self-attested copies of the supporting documents listed below.
  5. Submit the form in the drop box of the concerned unit before its last date. Where the notice prescribes a superscription for the envelope, write it exactly.

Documents Required for WB Police Driver Recruitment 2026

• Photocopy of certificate or mark sheet of educational qualification
• Photocopy of birth certificate or age-proof certificate
• Photocopy of driving licence
• Photocopy of document showing residential address (preferably Aadhaar Card)
• Copy of certificate in respect of working experience
• Extra-curricular certificate regarding motor repairing and others (optional in the Murshidabad notice)

Kalimpong lists self-attested copies of Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Driving License, educational certificates and experience certificate. Krishnanagar accepts PAN Card, Driving License, Voter Card or Aadhaar Card as identification and residential proof. The Annexure-I note asks for self-attested copies of documents against Sl. Nos. 3, 4, 6, 7 and 10 of the form.

Important Instructions

• Incomplete applications without the required documents may be rejected (Kalimpong, Krishnanagar, Murshidabad). Murshidabad also states that applications received after the due date may be rejected.
• Canvassing in any form or bringing any influence is treated as disqualification (Kalimpong, Krishnanagar).
• No TA/DA is paid for attending the Driving Test and Interview (Kalimpong, Krishnanagar).
• Furnishing false information or suppressing material facts may lead to rejection or cancellation (Murshidabad).
• The Annexure-I forms ask whether any criminal case is initiated or pending against the applicant. Hooghly Rural’s form also asks for bank and Aadhaar details, and Murshidabad’s form asks for an alternate number, email ID and left thumb impression with a checklist of enclosures.
• Contractual service conditions are governed by the contract and applicable Government rules. No claim for regularisation will be entertained. The competent authority may cancel the process at any stage without prior notice and without assigning any reason.
