National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan) is located at Muttukadu, East Coast Road, Kovalam (P.O), Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The institute functions under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, to provide rehabilitation, training, and research support for persons with multiple disabilities. The current notification invites qualified professionals to join the institute on a temporary consultancy assignment under specific terms and conditions.

• Experience in working for Persons with Multiple Disabilities (applicable to Tutor – Clinical Assistant and Rehabilitation Officer posts).

Pay and Terms

Selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration without any additional allowances:

• Lecturer (Clinical Psychology) (Consultant): Rs. 60,000/- per month.
• Tutor – Clinical Assistant (Occupational Therapy) (Consultant): Rs. 50,000/- per month.
• Rehabilitation Officer – Therapeutics (Consultant): Rs. 50,000/- per month.

An annual increment at the rate of 3% shall be allowed during the term of the contract. Paid leave of absence may be allowed at the rate of 1.5 days for each completed month of service. The term of appointment is ordinarily for an initial period not exceeding 3 years, extendable up to a maximum of 5 years with the approval of the General Council, provided in no case shall it be extended beyond 5 years. The appointment is on a full-time basis, and candidates are not permitted to take up any other commercial assignment during the period of consultancy.

Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 590/- (including GST), which must be paid through online mode via RTGS, NEFT, or IMPS. No other mode of payment is accepted by the Institute. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, PWD, Female, and Transgender categories are exempted from paying the application fee.

Important Instructions

• The consultant positions are filled purely on a contractual basis.
• Selected candidates may be posted at NIEPMD(D), Chennai, and any of its sub-centres or out-reach centres, and are liable to be transferred to offices anywhere in India under the administrative control of NIEPMD(D), Chennai.
• Engagement can be terminated by the competent authority at any time without assigning reasons by giving 30 days notice, or by the candidate by giving 30 days advance notice or remuneration in lieu thereof.
• Bringing any type of political or official interference, influence, canvassing, or pressure will render the candidate disqualified.
• Incomplete applications or applications submitted without requisite documents will be summarily rejected.
